Dog Grooming Policies
Vaccination Requirements:
- Rabies Vaccination: All dogs must have an up-to-date rabies vaccination before grooming. This is essential for the safety of all pets and staff in our facility. Proof of vaccination must be provided during the initial visit and updated as needed.
- Recommended Vaccinations: While not mandatory, we highly recommend that dogs also be vaccinated against DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus) and Bordetella (kennel cough) to help prevent the spread of common canine illnesses.
- Exemptions: If your pet cannot receive certain vaccinations due to health reasons, please provide a letter from your veterinarian stating the exemption. We may still be able to accommodate your pet with additional precautions.
Policy for Senior and Ill Pets
At Hachi Dog Grooming, we strive to ensure a safe and comfortable grooming experience, especially for senior and ill pets. However, grooming can sometimes be stressful for these pets, potentially revealing or worsening health issues.
- Assessment: We reserve the right to refuse grooming if we determine your pet is too old or ill, as their safety is our priority. In such cases, we recommend grooming in a veterinary facility where medical care is readily available.
- Emergency Care: If during grooming we notice signs of distress or health concerns, we will contact you immediately. If necessary, we may take your pet to the nearest veterinarian for urgent care. All associated costs for emergency treatment will be the owner’s responsibility.
- Veterinary Treatment Agreement: By using our services, you agree to allow us to seek immediate veterinary care if needed, with all costs to be covered by you, the pet owner.
Policy for Flea & Tick Free Facility
At Hachi Dog Grooming, maintaining a clean and safe environment is a top priority, which is why we are a flea and tick-free facility. To ensure the comfort and health of all pets in our care, we have the following guidelines:
- Flea and Tick Prevention: All pets must be on a veterinarian-approved flea and tick prevention program. We recommend applying the treatment at least 48 hours before the grooming appointment to ensure effectiveness.
- Inspection and Immediate Treatment: If fleas or ticks are found on your pet during the grooming session, we will perform an immediate flea or tick treatment to prevent infestation in our facility. An additional fee will be charged for this service, and you will be notified as soon as possible.
- Owner Responsibility: Please inform us in advance if your pet has fleas or ticks so that appropriate measures can be taken. Failure to disclose a flea or tick infestation may result in additional cleaning fees to maintain our facility’s flea-free environment.
- Prevention is Key: We encourage all pet owners to keep up with regular flea and tick prevention treatments year-round to protect their pets and help us maintain a pest-free grooming environment.
Policy for Matted Dogs
At Hachi Dog Grooming, we take dog matting seriously due to the potential harm it can cause to your pet. To ensure your pet’s safety and comfort, we follow these guidelines:
-
Assessment and Notification: If matting is found on your pet, we will notify you immediately. Matting can trap moisture and debris close to the skin, leading to severe skin irritations, infections, and other conditions.
-
Safety and Comfort: Our top priority is your pet’s well-being. If we determine that dematting would cause significant discomfort or pain, we will recommend shaving as a humane alternative. We reserve the right to refuse grooming service.
-
Owner Decision: You have the option to either take your pet home, understanding that mats will worsen over time, or proceed with shaving, which carries some risks like nicks, cuts, or abrasions due to skin folds or hidden growths in the matted fur.
-
Aftereffects of Mat Removal: Removing mats can result in skin redness, itchiness, and potential failure of the hair to regrow properly. Shaved areas are prone to sunburn and should be protected from direct sunlight until the coat regrows.
-
Prevention is Key: Regular grooming appointments are the best way to prevent matting. We encourage you to schedule routine visits to keep your pet’s coat healthy and mat-free.
By following these guidelines, we aim to provide a safe and comfortable grooming experience for your pet at Hachi Dog Grooming.
Late Pick-Up Policy
At Hachi Dog Grooming, we ask that all pets be picked up by our closing time at 6:00 PM. If you anticipate being late, please let us know as soon as possible. Late pick-ups may incur an additional fee, and prompt communication helps us ensure the comfort and safety of your pet. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Grooming Satisfaction Policy
At Hachi Dog Grooming, we are committed to your satisfaction and strive to provide the best grooming experience for your pet. Our grooming satisfaction policy includes the following guidelines:
-
72-Hour Notification: If you have any concerns about your pet’s grooming, please notify us within 72 hours of your appointment. This allows us to address any issues promptly.
-
7-Day Return Period: Once notified, clients have up to 7 days from the original grooming appointment to bring their pet back for adjustments. We will make reasonable fixes at no additional charge within this period.
-
Post 7-Day: After 7 days, or if no notification is made within the initial 72 hours, any additional grooming services will be charged at the standard rate.
These guidelines help us ensure your pet leaves looking their best and that you are fully satisfied with our services.

Hachi Dog Grooming reserves the right to refuse service to anyone who repeatedly brings in neglected pets or exhibits verbally or physically abusive behavior toward staff, other clients, or their own pets while on the premises.
